The war — the engine of progress. This once again proves our history automobile plant "Ural". At the end of 1941 in the small town of Miass in the Chelyabinsk region opened venture to produce parts for the front-line of trucks. It was created at the facilities evacuated from Ulyanovsk Automobile them. Stalin, who had previously also been moved there from Moscow. Round the clock mounted in the cold working equipment, and in March 1942 in Miass earned the first workshop. Later it was decided that there will be produced not only the details, but the cars themselves.

 "Hail to the Urals"

The first "three-ton ‘ZIS-5V left the assembly line in July 1944 Over the next year the plant produced 6,800 cars, that is every day — more than 18 trucks.

In the postwar period, "Ural" meets the high requirements of the country in specialized vehicles. On the basis of the ZIS-5M made dump trucks, garbage trucks, fire trucks and watering.

In 1958 Miasse started producing models ZIS-355M, which coincided with the development of virgin lands. The new car was delivered mainly in Kazakhstan, Siberia and the Far East, where off-road conditions and harsh climate has established itself as a reliable and unpretentious truck. For 7 years, was released more than 190 thousand 355M. In continuous operation the company production of one such machine took just over 20 minutes.

In the early 60’s was put into production the famous Ural-375, designed for the transportation of troops and supplies. This car, and today is used as a chassis for multiple launch rocket systems "Grad". By the beginning of 1979 there were prototypes of the Ural-43201 for use in the Far North. In 1981 he produced the first batch of the conveyor Ural-5920, which has high traffic for heavy off-road (moorland or snow drifts). February 21, 1986 plant "Ural" produced its one millionth car.

In turbulent 90 years the company has gone through a difficult situation. Fatal Six-Year in 1992-1998. was most unfortunate in its history. In 1991, 31371 machines have been collected, the 1998 — 2489 only. Production has declined dramatically in 12.6 times. To survive, the plant had to master the production of non-core products: parts for "cars are" garden equipment and even furniture. In 1998, he completed the painful procedure of bankruptcy.

The return of all-terrain vehicles in operation

A new page in the history of the "Ural" began in 2001, when the company became a fully non-government and became part of the machine-building holding "RusPromAvto." Prior to that, in the reconstruction and technical re-was invested one billion rubles. Since 2003, production began to increase at a CAGR of 30%. In 2004 a new system of assembly, through which labor efficiency increased by 2 times, and costs were reduced three times.

In November 2005, a truck rolled off the main road of a new family — truck Ural-63685, designed for the transport of gravel, sand and other mound. Also began to be produced tractor Ural-63674 — Machine for truckers that can tow a trailer weighing up to 34.5 tons. He was recognized as the best truck in one of the nominations of the Moscow International Motor Show 2006.

In the middle of the zero-commissioned oil industry to "Ural" designed and manufactured spetsvahtovye buses, and for the Ministry of Defence — a series of armored vehicles.

In 2008, total production increased to 15,158 units, while the share of exports amounted to about 10%, but the global financial crisis crippled the operation of the enterprise. In 2009, production fell again, certainly not as catastrophic as 11 years ago, but also significantly — up to 6334 cars. However, in the next year thanks to the support of the federal government managed to rectify the situation. In 2010, the company produced 9.4 million cars, and in 2011 — already 11.7 thousand

Currently, the "Ural" employs 13.8 million people. The territory of the plant is more than 300 hectares, which is 48 times greater than the area of all the exhibition halls of the Hermitage. Cars of the "Ural" made in the armies of 40 countries. High throughput, reliability and ease of use have made Miass trucks indispensable technique in difficult areas. Among the main customers of the plant — the major oil and gas companies, construction companies, the Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
