It is no secret that much of the leadership in the KAMAZ and AvtoVAZ in 2004 initiated a sharp increase in import duties on used foreign cars in Russia. Prior to this we can easily import almost two decades of a truck or bus. Country threatened to overwhelm the wave of foreign avtohlama. In return, the government adopted Decree number 166 on industrial assembly, which created the conditions for the establishment of joint ventures and car assembly plants in the country. Of course, the biggest surge in activity was observed in the passenger car segment, but gradually it began to work towards manufacturers of trucks and components. Among the undisputed leader in the joint venture companies were in Naberezhnye Chelny by KAMAZ.
Now joint ventures in Chelny work in three areas:
The first area — engines. US-Russian joint venture "Cummins KAMA" produces in-line 4 — and 6-cylinder diesel engines Cummins ISBe family with a power range from 140 to 300 horsepower. On the issue of pistons, developed by specialists to another U.S. company Federal Mogul, the activities of the joint venture aims "Federal Mogul Naberezhnye Chelny."
The second trend — the release of transmissions of ZF Friedrichshafen AG, for it established a joint venture rossiyskogermanskoe "ZF KAMA."
The third area — the production of brake system components together with another German company Knorr-Bremze. This joint venture named "Knorr-Bremse KAMA."
The establishment of these joint venture in Naberezhnye Chelny gives foreigners a guaranteed access to the promising Russian market and the automobile plant — saving in time: he does not need to expend energy and money on the development of advanced components for commercial vehicles. Thus, the leadership is trying to KAMAZ, not in words but in deeds eliminate the backlog in the production of trucks from major manufacturers in Europe and America. And it can do. For visible results, even a layman can only speed up the development of the new cab for the main KAMAZ. Recall that in the Kama Industrial Park "Master" in Naberezhnye Chelny operate two joint ventures: the first — to assemble medium-duty Japanese Mitsubishi Canter Fuso, the second — to assemble heavy-duty truck models Mercedes Actros and Axor. Plans for further development — organize another joint venture company c Daimler AG for the production of axles for trucks.
Production of compact: the order in a small area easier to clean than large areas. KAMAZ, built during the Soviet era — is a city with its streets and squares. Under the joint venture were isolated unused automobile body and its subsidiaries. Indeed, on the one hand, for the past 20 years have decreased production of trucks, in the best case less than two, if not three times … On the other hand, the optimized production, the need for large shops decreased.
