Krondshtatsky restored Cathedral of the Sea

Today in Kronstadt, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill performed the rite of lesser blessing of the Naval Cathedral of St Nicholas. The Patriarch said that the restoration of the cathedral was very difficult, and thanked all those who helped to revive it.

The temple was built by Emperor Nicholas II in 1903 in honor of the 200th anniversary of the Russian Navy. The cathedral was built 10 years by the architect Vasily Kosyakova and was consecrated in 1913. This is a monument to all ranks of the Russian fleet. Until 1927 services were held here. Then the church was closed. In 2009 it was decided to restore the temple.
