Lena Pillars National Park added to the list of World Heritage Sites

National Park "Lena Pillars" in Yakutia, joined the list of UNESCO World Heritage sites, said on Monday a representative of an international organization.

The decision was taken at the 36th session of the World Heritage Committee of UNESCO, which runs in St. Petersburg until July 6.

National Nature Park "Lena Pillars" is on the territory of Yakutia, on the banks of the Lena River. The unusual name derives from the park ridge vertically extending many kilometers of Cambrian limestone rocks — rock formed over 500 million years ago.
