Miatlinsky HPP. Dagestan

Miatlinsky plant — The second (middle) stage of the cascade hydropower plants on the river Sulak Kizilyurtovsky district of Dagestan. About the bottom step of the cascade I wrote — it Chirjurtsky complex plant. Together with LJ user russos, gelio_nsk and 4044415 we went up the river Sulak to the station from which the water reservoir of Makhachkala.

1. First, the view opens up our eyes to the lower station construction — is the main power house, open distribution system and surge tank. Dam itself was hidden in the gorge. November sun is completely lost in the clouds and not warmed. There was the sound of water and a light buzz of ORU. Romance.

2. Engine room. In the power house has 2 Kaplan hydraulic capacity of 110 MW, operating at a design head of 46 meters. Miatlinsky plant serves as a powerful counter-regulator Chirkeisk power plant (the top step of the cascade), leveling uneven daily water consumption in the interests of agriculture, fisheries and municipal services, while avoiding idle discharges.

3. We get down to the hydraulic units.
A bit of history. In 1970 he started the preparatory work for the construction of hydroelectric power plants. In 1977, on the right bank there was a major landslide, resulting in the construction was stopped. In the short time had to perform a large-scale landslide of work to change the design decisions and change the scheme of hydropower. As a result, power house was moved by 1.5 km. Already in 1982, the dam was placed first cubic meter of concrete, and in 1985 he began assembly of the first unit.
By 1986, were put into operation two hydroelectric.

9. Meet — concrete arch dam height of 86.5 meters. It’s like a 28-story building. Crest length — 179 meters (almost like two football fields). In the downstream of the water is very small, because at that time, the entire flow through the hydraulic units and idler (flood) spillway is closed.
