News of the customs union


Several dozen countries have expressed a desire to create a Customs Union free trade area, the Eurasian Economic Commission for some of the countries already active, the head of the college of ECE Viktor Khristenko on Tuesday. 

According to Khristenko, RIA "Novosti", "we already have 35 applications from countries on free trade with the Customs Union and most of them have some depth is working."

Khristenko did not rule out the emergence of new formats of the Customs Union with other countries.

"In addition to formats such as free trade, I think there will be other formats with in-depth sectoral agreements," — said the head of the college of ECE.

On the eve of Ukraine signed a memorandum of ECE trade cooperation and a memorandum on cooperation in the sphere of technical regulation.

The decision on the establishment of the Customs Union of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan was adopted in August 2006 at an informal summit of the Eurasian Economic Community (EurAsEC).

Customs Union provides for the creation of a single customs territory, within which do not apply customs duties and restrictions of economic nature, with the exception of special protective, antidumping and countervailing measures. The TA used a common customs tariff and other common measures regulating trade with third countries.

Earlier, First Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov, the Russian government has reported that in the future will create a free trade zone with Vietnam.

Shuvalov said that was most recently president visits Vietnam to Russia. "We have a lot of recent contacts with the Vietnamese side. Viet Nam are more and more interested in how to become a strategic partner of Russia in the region, and Russia supports this commitment, and we are in its agenda put the same question," — said First Deputy Prime Minister.

Recall that Vietnam is considering the possibility of joining the Customs Union, said President of Vietnam Chyung Tan Sang during his July visit to Moscow.
