According to recent statistics, Russia is among the world leaders in the production and export of not only grain. Thus, since 2012 — for the first time in decades — it is also among the world leaders in the manufacture and export of poultry products, processed products of sugar beet and sunflower oil. And the high quality standards of these products are recognized by international specialized organizations. This is confirmed by the fact that the European Union in January 2013 with the permission of the Russian exports of poultry products in the EU region. We emphasize that such a decision the EU has never taken not only against Russia, but the Soviet Union.
In just 3 years — 2009-2012 — exports of Russian poultry products increased by 7 times. In 2009, these exports did not exceed six thousand tons, in 2012 — amounted to 40.7 thousand tons (supplies were sent mainly to Southeast Asia and the former Soviet republics). According to expert estimates, in 2013 the export of these products likely will exceed 50 thousand tons, and geography "ptitseeksporta" will include the European Union. These trends are associated with a twofold increase in production of these products in the Russian Federation for 2007-2012. Due to purposeful policy of the state on imports on the domestic food market.
"The right to supply meat to Europe — to a greater degree and an element of prestige. But what figure to the EU in reality we leave will depend on the Ministry of Economic Development of the upcoming talks with European partners", — says the head of the Association of operators of the Russian poultry Andrei Terekhin. According to estimates referred to the Association and the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Poultry Union and the Russian Federation, the amount of possible supply of these products in the EU region almost the record: it is more than 150 thousand tons per year, and without prejudice to the supply in the domestic market. Galina Bobyleva, CEO of the Russian Poultry Union, notes that "in 2012, to 90% of the demand for poultry meat in the country provides — for the first time — the domestic production." In her view, this trend will continue in future years. This is despite the fact that in the late 1990s, the share of imports of the same products on the Russian market, mainly from the U.S., more than 60% …
Record in 2012, has also been made for the production and supply of products in foreign countries sugar beet processing. Thus, the export of sugar exceeded 165 thousand tons, and sugar beet pulp and molasses (raw material for many industries produce industry, as well as valuable feed for livestock and kormodobavki) — achieved, in general, one million tons. These figures are at least half more than in 2011. And consumers of Russian sugar production began more than 20 countries. Including, for example, the United States, Canada, the number of EU countries and even some oil-producing and exporting cane sugar (in particular, Mexico, Nicaragua, Belize, Panama).
The same trends — for sunflower oil: its production increased in 2012 by about 50%, while exports increased by almost half. More specifically, it has exceeded 1.1 million tons, Russia has put forward — again, for the first time — the second largest in the world after Argentina, the export of the product. This level of exports, according to most forecasts, will continue in the coming years. And also — without prejudice to the Russian market.
The above results and trends — literally, the fruits of a long-term agricultural development of the state program, developed at the initiative of Russian President Vladimir Putin and launched in 2008. Because there is every reason to believe that, as stated recently the director of the Department of Agrifood Market Regulation of Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, "in the next 4-5 years, Russia has to guarantee its independence in all major types of food."
