Novocherkassk Electric Locomotive Plant (NEVZ, part of ZAO "Transmashholding") has transferred to the depot Khabarovsk Far Eastern Railway freight locomotive "Ermak" 3ES5K number 300.
To date, more than seventy of these locomotives are working on the East-Siberian Railway (depot Vihorevka), more than 170 locomotives assigned to the Far Eastern Railway (depot Khabarovsk and Smolyaninovo), more than forty cars run on the Trans-Baikal Railway (depot Amur). In continuous operation the locomotives are from May 2007. In 2012 NEVZ manufacture to order of "Russian Railways" 3ES5K 90 electric locomotives.
3ES5K different from the two-compartment model of the presence of a booster (intermediate) section, increasing its capacity from 6,560 to 10,000 kW. The booster section contains equipment that provides the electric locomotive for traction and regenerative braking control of a locomotive from the cabin crew head or tail section.
"Ermak" is used for the transport of heavy trains on the track sections with difficult terrain, the locomotive can drive trains weighing up to 6300 tonnes. Electric provide a more comfortable environment for the train crews, equipped cabins with air conditioning and heating, relevant to all modern sanitary standards.
During the period of production of electric 3ES5K a large volume of work on improving the design and reliability of the locomotive. To improve traction and performance and reliability introduced more advanced electric motors with copper rotors, new reliable reclining sliding side windows. To improve the reliability of launch support vehicles used starter motor.
