NovoShip chosen Transas modern technology to prepare navigator manning

In February 2012, a new simulator of electronic chart display and information system (ECDIS) from "Transas" in the test mode, began work in teaching and training center SCF Group "Novoshiptrening" (Novorossiysk). Chart of the fleet the largest in Russia and one of the world’s leading shipping companies are already being trained on the simulator.

A corresponding agreement between the company "Transas" Novorossiysk and training center "Novoshiptrening" was reached in December 2011, becoming the logical continuation of the long-standing partnership Transas and Sovcomflot.

The simulator consists of nine jobs with a complete set of three computer per workstation-based navigational simulator NTPRO 5000, which corresponds to the category of ECDIS-lab according to the Convention’s terminology. Along with the simulator and the real working marine equipment — double side console Transas Navi-Sailor 4000 MFD, which is also in the fitness class. The equipment allows for ECDIS training, two levels — basic and advanced.

The project for the training center for the first time in GFR in this configuration introduced a technology that allows work in one scenario of two geographically distributed simulation systems using Internet access.

"From a practical point of view, this technology will allow for training workout several crews that are in Novorossiysk and St. Petersburg and at the same time solving the common learning task — for example, participating in ships through ice, driving in a caravan etc. This comprehensive training is particularly relevant in the context of GFR in the service area of Russian oil and gas projects on the continental shelf in the Arctic and sub-Arctic regions. Simultaneous participation in the training of two or more crews, consisting of representatives of different schools of navigation (the north, which has extensive experience of navigation in ice conditions, and the South, which specializes in the management of the Convention’s fleet), will provide an opportunity to significantly expand the scope of training. I am confident that the new simulator will allow us to continue the high-quality training for the navigator of our core customer — a group of GFR " —  said Sergey Makarov, captain, director of the PEI "UTC" Novoshiptrening.
