Official unemployment in Russia in March 2013 declined by almost 2%

Official unemployment in Russia in March 2013 decreased by 1.7% and slightly over one million people, said on Friday the press service of the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Russian Federation.

 

"From 27 February to 27 March 2013 the number of unemployed persons registered with the employment services fell by 1.75% or 19.4 thousand people, and as at 27 March 2013 amounted to 1,086 million people," — said in a statement .

As of February 27, the registered unemployment in Russia amounted to 1,105 million.

According to the Labor Ministry, in January, the number of unemployed persons decreased in 65 regions of Russia. The largest drop was recorded in the Republic of Ingushetia, Astrakhan and Kursk regions, the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania.

The growth in the number of unemployed persons registered with the Employment Service, observed in 18 subjects of the Russian Federation. Maximum growth registered in the Republic of Tuva and Kalmykia, also in the Sakhalin region.

According to the latest data of Rosstat, the overall unemployment rate in Russia in February 2013 was 4.3 million or 5.8% of the economically active population.
