After the planned renovations on Cheboksary HPP commissioned HA number 17 and number 18. Part of hydraulic equipment was upgraded, which according to chief engineer Eugene Shchegolkova will improve the performance of the equipment, safety, and reduce maintenance costs.
During the Reconstruction of hydraulic specialists of JSC "RusHydro" had replaced the old oil-filled voltage transformers for cast resin transformers German company «ELEQ bv». Each HA was found for 12 units of the new equipment. The specialists of "Elektroremont-WCC", a subsidiary of JSC "RusHydro", completed the replacement of air circuit breakers.
Older breakers VVG-20 were replaced with new gas-insulated HGI-3V Swiss production. Also, mounted on hydraulic modern microprocessor terminals of relay protection and control switch generators produced SPE "screen".
Cheboksary power plant, the installed capacity of 1,404 MW, is part of the Volga cascade gidroelektrostatsy and is one of Russia’s largest hydroelectric power station. Construction of the plant began in 1968, and the first hydraulic unit has already started work in 1980. Annual electricity generation is about 3,500 million kWh.
