On the Novolipetsk Metallurgical Plant completed the installation of the new power station equipment

At the production site in Lipetsk completed installation of basic equipment of one of the key objects of the second phase of the program of modernization — a new combined heat and power capacity of 150 MW. This project will increase the power generating capacity by 45% from 332 MW to 482 MW. This will increase the level of self-sufficiency at the Lipetsk site from 44% currently to 55% in the second half of 2011, after the commissioning of the new blast furnace number 7.

Construction of the project is carried out in conjunction with the construction of the furnace. To generate electricity for the new power station will use blast furnace gas, a by-product of the main metallurgical production. Heat and power plant operation will solve an environmental issue of utilization of 360 thousand cubic meters per hour of blast furnace gas, and will produce an additional 115 Gcal of thermal energy in the form of hot water and 120 t / h of steam for the needs of NLMK.

Now fully completed the installation of turbine generators, buildings, structures and communications of the main and auxiliary equipment at the facility is being commissioned work. Start hot tests planned for the beginning of Q2 2011.

For the record:
New plant is a modern technological system, comprising 3 turbine generator with a capacity of 50 MW, 3 boilers for steam generation, water treatment plants, cooling towers and other thermal power station will be equipped with integrated automation and remote control. Through the introduction of energy-saving technologies and equipment with modern equipment specific fuel consumption for electricity generation will be 26% below the current CHP. With the launch of the new combined heat and power will create 137 additional jobs.
