Young Moscow scientists rush to the stars

It just seems that all the spaceships and satellites have already been built. Science and technology are developing at a frantic pace: new materials and modern technology, and with them new and ambitious projects of space exploration. Some of them were presented at the annual "Royal Readings 2012", which invariably take place with the support of the Government of Moscow. And as always at such events, young scientists have worked side by side with venerable designers.


Uninitiated format "Royal readings" may seem boring: report on the topic, followed by discussions: I even cut through the names of the reports were more complicated than overcome the force of gravity. And these reports were not five or even ten — all were 22 sections in all areas of space research, space technology and the development of space technology.

— The motor-flywheel — it’s part of the orientation and stabilization of the spacecraft. This topic is interesting, necessary and promising, we are talking about satellites weighing up to 100 kg. Unfortunately, it is not much development. I started with the theoretical calculations, designs, and now going to carry out a series of experiments that will help to prove the viability of my motor flywheel.


— So, with your help, we finally learn how to launch satellites, which have recently been flying for some reason is not there? — I ask Irina.


— My direction — small satellites and space technology is a completely different level. She, by the way, not seriously engaged, though lightweight satellites provide communications. In fact, they are running a popular navigation system GLONASS. Also with them is carried out remote sensing of the Earth, to be able to predict some natural phenomena.

" He was dedicated to the 250th anniversary of the discovery of the atmosphere of Venus and the Lomonosov half-century anniversary of automatic interplanetary stations "Venera-1" and "Mars-1". This legendary people, communication with them, of course, inspires young people to new achievements.


From practice to work

— The satellite was made and brought to the launch. Unfortunately, not our fault, but because he did not crash rocket into orbit — says Viktoria. — But the educational part of it has been fully implemented. In the course of this project the students have passed all stages of the development of a real space of the product. They learned a lot, grown professionally. It is a pity that we could not take part in the operation, but I’m sure they will take the lessons learned to other projects.


Now Bauman developed microsatellite "Baumanets-2" — a new generation of spacecraft, with new features, modern filling for experiments that are currently relevant and important. New materials that have been presented at meetings of the sections in the past, have already been tested and is now being introduced into production. For students it is a workshop, developing into a real engineering work with full responsibility. As a result of being raised not just calculating engineer with a narrow-minded, and the engineer who is able to make independent decisions and for these solutions to respond.




The first spacecraft "Baumanets" (not released into orbit July 26, 2006 due to engine failure of the first stage rocket "Dnepr") were represented by a cube with an edge of 70 cm in the second microsatellite folded looks like a regular hexagonal prism, his weight only 40 kg. It is curious that the faces of the device "Baumanets-2" are devices that form a rigid structure. In microsatellite scientific equipment for five experiments, in particular for the study millimeter wave damping under study and additional channels telemetry data using modems satellite communication system Globalstar.




Who gets stronger inter-university community. Recently, representatives of Bauman signed several agreements with Moscow State University in the field of space research. In addition, an agreement on cooperation and the development of a microsatellite with a French University of Montpellier 2. French students prepare the payload for the "Bauman-2." They have created a radiation measurement instrument designed to study the degradation of bipolar elements under the influence of cosmic radiation.
