"Petrozavodskmash" (part of the group of companies "Atomenergomash") shipped the first and second capacity of the emergency core cooling system (ECCS) for the second unit of Novovoronezh.

ECCS capacity — one of the elements of the emergency core cooling system, which is a passive safety systems of the reactor nuclear power plant. Capacity at the plant ECCS filled with an aqueous solution of boric acid and is positioned above the reactor. In the case of the maximum credible accident — the gap of the first reactor cooling circuit — the contents of the tanks by gravity is inside the reactor core and nuclear chain reaction is quenched by a large number of boron-containing substances that absorb neutrons.

"We have chosen the best way to transport containers — rail" — said the head of sales department "Petrozavodskmash" Boris Shilov. — Whole Plant produced four tanks for ECCS NVNPP-2. Two shipped, the remaining two will go to Semiluky during the current month. "
