Specialists of the North Caucasus trust construction and engineering research started in Chukotka to the engineering and geological studies of the place allocated for placement of floating nuclear power plant (FNPP) in the northern city of Russia Pevek.
The construction of floating nuclear power plants provides the development strategy of Chukotka 2020. The station must be replaced repeatedly exhausted chaunskoy CHP, becoming the basis of the energy infrastructure Chaun-Bilibinskii industrial hub of the rich deposits of precious and non-ferrous metals.
"Geologists JSC" North-Caucasian trust construction and engineering research "in late October, arrived in Pevek and began detailed engineering studies of the geological section of soil on the site where it will be installed floating nuclear power plant. In addition to the previously conducted study of the coastline and the seabed is now produced by drilling , temperature and soil sampling, to be sent to Moscow for treatment, "- said the head of the geological survey organizations Christina Gorkun.
According to her, after examining the samples in Moscow would be prepared a technical report to be submitted in August and September 2013 for the public examination of the conduct of research.
"If the examination is successful, without comment, and the need for additional research, followed by scientists in Pevek to arrive builders who will be engaged in the next phase of work in preparation for the placement and installation of floating nuclear power plant" — added Gorkun.
In addition to the administration of Chaun region of Chukotka reported that surveyors and survey organizations met in Pevek topographic survey in the area of the Chaun thermal power station at the site where the pre-planned route laying high-voltage transmission line from floating nuclear power plant of the future. According to preliminary data, its length is about a kilometer. It will connect the new energy source with an open substation CHP, which closed all the main networks of the area.
Construction of floating unit "Academician Lomonosov" for head floating nuclear power plant is on the St. Petersburg "Baltic Shipyard", which is part of the United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC). Because of the debate about the cost of work between the concern "Rosenergoatom" acting as a customer, and USC have problems with completion of power, a willingness which is 65%.
Representatives of the "Rosenergoatom" in September, confirmed its plans to release a series of floating nuclear power plant in early November intend to put an end to contract negotiations with USC.
Russia’s first floating nuclear power plant planned to be installed in the Chukchi and Kamchatka Pevek Vilyuchinsk. Running the power plant was originally scheduled for the years 2015-2016.
In August 2010, residents Pevek at the public hearing based on "Estimates of the environmental impact of the construction and operation of floating nuclear power plants", supported the construction of floating nuclear power and argued for its placement in Pevek.
