Railway cargo turnover of Ust-Luga in the I half of 2012 grew by 66% — to 14.8 million tons

The volume of rail freight port of Ust-Luga in the I half of 2012 amounted to 14.8 million tons, up 66% from the same period last year. The press-service of JSC "Russian Railways".

In the address of the port of Ust-Luga increased rail transportation of coal — by 30% (to 7.9 million tonnes) and petroleum products — by 2.9 times (almost 6 million tonnes).

It is clarified that the growth in cargo handling in the port due to the opening of new terminals and the power increase operating transshipment facilities.

As previously reported, in H1 2012 the port of Ust-Luga one of the five largest ports in Russia, doubling its turnover compared to last year.

Rail-ferry service on the line Ust-Luga — Baltiisk in the 1st half of 2012 carried 4896 cars.

Rail-ferry service on the line Ust-Luga — Baltiysk was launched in late 2010. The main flow of goods to Kaliningrad should be from October, Sverdlovsk, North, Moscow, Kuibyshev, West-Siberian railway.
