ZAO "Transmashholding" and JSC "Russian Railways" signed a contract for the supply of innovative mainline freight locomotives AC 2ES5. This was reported by the Department of Public Relations of the holding.
The contract signed by the president of JSC "Russian Railways" Vladimir Yakunin and Chairman of the Board of Directors "Transmashholding" Andrew Bokaryov in the framework of the "Strategic Partnership 1520" in Sochi. Under the agreement, during the period from 2013 to 2020, Russian Railways will 2ES5 200 electric locomotives.
Work on the creation of this locomotive are conducted within the framework of a memorandum signed by ZAO "Transmashholding", the French company Alstom Transport and JSC "Russian Railways" September 21, 2010 in Berlin, the exhibition Innotrans.
2ES5 locomotive designed in Novocherkassk branch joint engineering center Transmashholding and Alstom Transport — the company "TRTrans." This is the second locomotive of the 5th generation, created in the framework of the Russian-French partnership (after the two-system passenger EP20).
The design 2ES5 use the most modern technical solutions, including traction drive with asynchronous traction motors with individual inverter voltage, oil-free piston compressors with devices drying and cleaning the air, microprocessor-based control system and diagnostics. The contract provides that the elements of an electric locomotive, developed in France should be located on the Russian electronic components, their production will be deployed on domestic enterprises.
The massive use of new locomotives will significantly increase the carrying capacity of the Russian railways, improve energy efficiency and reduce the cost of transportation. The design of electric laid repeatedly increased compared to the standard models turnaround. In this labor for maintenance are reduced.
Much attention is paid to the design of electric locomotive crew working conditions. The design involves the use of a modular control room with climate control, comply with all the modern sanitary, ergonomic and safety standards, as well as energy-absorbing devices to ensure the safety drivers in collisions.
Electric locomotives will be manufactured at the Novocherkassk Electric Locomotive Plant.
