It is about double the cargo locomotive power 2ES20 with asynchronous traction motors, the implementation of which will increase productivity by reducing the time spent on the train station, where there is a change of power, and reduce the cost of maintaining the fleet of locomotives. It is planned that by September of this year to complete the development of design documentation for electric locomotive, and in March of next year, will be made the first copy of the locomotive, and it will begin the test. "The first locomotive to be transferred 2ES20 Railways in December of next year", — said the Itar-Tass company.
He noted that the production of new cars will be organized on the basis of the Novocherkassk Electric Locomotive Plant, part of the "TransMashHolding." Production of key components of electric locomotive, including traction equipment, will be located at facilities located on the territory of Russia.
Agreement on the development of the locomotive was signed today at the International Business Forum "Strategic Partnership 1520". His document was signed by Russian Railways President Vladimir Yakunin, President of ZAO "Transmashholding" Andrew Bokaryov and president of the company "Alstom Transport" Henri Poupart-Lafarge.
According to Yakunin, in accordance with the signed agreement will set up a joint working group for the preparation and approval of technical specifications for electric 2ES20.
