Unique firing bench testing ground analog integrated propulsion system (TAC) service module of the Russian segment of the International Space Station (ISS) held on October 5 in the PCF "SIC RCP" (Peresvet, Moscow region). Fire test results confirmed the efficiency of the propulsion system after 26 years of operation.
Test program, the inclusion 16 thrusters (12 kgs), bred axis yaw, pitch and roll, and the propulsion system KDU (300 kgf thrust) used to correct the orbit of the station. Carried out in a continuous mode switch (switch 2 to 20) and 2 pulse.
From 1985 to 2011 held 39 sessions of fire tests. Total Time Spent units propulsion components for fuel heptyl and Atin is 9450 days. Technical value of the record for the duration of terrestrial life test increases over time as the results of operations may justify extending the life of the ISS and confirm the possibility of applying the elements of the TAC in the long interplanetary flights. Tests are continuing on the program and allow for a practical solution to the problems encountered in the operation of the ISS.
Creating long-term orbital stations were fundamentally new phase of space exploration. Therefore, confirmation of their performance demanded the creation of unique stands and perform new experimental work.
In FSE "SIC RCP" performed experimental testing of all domestic space station, "Diamond", "Salut", "Mir", ISS. Held traditional cold-and fire tests propulsion components and assemblies, as well as endurance tests in analogue terrestrial mode. In particular, the analogue terrestrial ODE orbital station "Mir" was tested on the stand 4E IC-104. Poster version of the TAC station "Mir" (installation of ET-500) was installed on stand 18 October 1985.
After working on the TAC Standard Test it was put in maintenance mode orbital station, conducting fire and cold tests. For the first time in the history of space exploration realized the idea of parallel operation of TAC and its terrestrial counterpart, allowing the station to determine more precisely the possibility of real-time and to develop the technology to eliminate the emergency stand conditions.
After the cessation of operation of the station "Mir" in February 2001, the experimental unit was included in the version of the poster TAC service module "Zvezda" ISS (EC-917) to confirm the resource ODE systems and the corrosion resistance of aggregates. Stand equipped with environmental protection, ie emissions from all 32 liquid rocket thruster systems orientation of the station neutralized.
