In the past this week celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Ural Turbine Plant Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Company "Renova"Viktor Vekselberg in an interview with" Metal Supply and Sales "explained the reasons for taking control of 90% of the German concern Schmolz + Bickenbach, producer of rolled and forged stainless and tool steels.

"We, as investors took advantage of the favorable situation on the market and purchased the company specializing in the production of special steels for a wide range of applications. The deal is because we have a strategic interest in the presence of high-tech industries — namely high-tech enterprises are the main consumers of specialty steels and alloys. The company is big enough. For its production, which are located in Europe, in Asia, in America, employing more than 10,000 people. The volume of its production — a little more than 1 million of special steel per year. Some production is calculated in kilograms. It is, first of all, about the tool steel, about the stamps, which are used for the production of machine tools, and steel, which are used in aircraft and space industry. This acquisition is a logical extension of our policy in the presence of high-tech industries. Products of this company is practically absent in the Russian market. And we would love to, following our traditional approaches, on the one hand — to intensify trade relations with this company and, more importantly — to take advantage of its high technology and expertise in the industry, and involve them in our country, "- said Viktor Vekselberg.
