Russia delivered to Venezuela, thousands of anti-aircraft missiles

Russia delivered to Venezuela in 2009, at least 1,800 units of man-portable air defense systems, despite U.S. efforts to prevent the transaction. U.S. authorities fear that the missiles could then be transferred to Colombian rebels to fight in the pro-American government or Mexican drug cartels. This is evidenced by the diplomatic correspondence of the new documents published on the website WikiLeaks. In this case, the exact number of Russian-made missiles, caught in Venezuela remains unknown, although the fact that the sale was not a secret.
