Russia exported a record for the last 5 years, the amount of frozen blueberries

In Russia in sezone-2011/12 has all the chances to export a record for the last 5 years, the amount of frozen blueberries. As of March 1, 2012 Russian companies specializing in the preparation and frozen blueberries and other berries, exported more than 5 tons of blueberries. That's an average of 6 times more than the same date last season. The bulk of shipments, up to 65%, has traditionally occurred in August and September, and the main markets for Russian blueberries this season are Lithuania, Finland and Sweden. 

"The opportunity to increase exports of Russian companies have appeared in this season, mainly due to a fairly sharp rise in prices in the Nordic countries. In Russia, the prices also rose compared to last season, however, even with that in mind the competitiveness of Russian blueberries significantly improved in Europe, and Russian companies have got a great chance to increase sales in overseas markets, " — commented Alexander Samohvalov, Managing Director of "Berries of Karelia", which is one of the largest operators in the Russian and European markets fresh-frozen berries.

According to the "APK-Inform: Vegetables and Fruits", the last time Russia has set a record for sales of frozen blueberries sezone-2006/07, while the country exported nearly 11 tonnes of grapes.
