Russian perspective fighter T-50 (PAK FA) is superior to the American F-22 and Chinese J-20 for a number of important characteristics. On Monday, February 13th, according to RIA Novosti, said Russian Air Force Commander Col. Gen. Alexander Zelin said.
"After a comparative analysis of the characteristics of the Russian fifth generation fighter T-50 with the U.S. F-22 and Chinese J-20, it can be concluded that the PAK FA is superior to foreign counterparts on indicators such as maximum speed (like afterburner and besforsazhny) maximum range, thrust, the maximum realizable value of overloading, "- said Zelin.
According to the Commander of the Air Force, the Russian prototype is comparable with foreign counterparts in size and weight, but it "has a much smaller amount of start and run" and "looks better" foreign competitors on the characteristics of airborne equipment.
According to the plan of the Ministry of Defence, the PAK FA should be different from those of the previous generation of aircraft improved on-board electronics, the presence of the "electronic pilot" and promising radar with a phased antenna array. Fighter F-22 entered service with the U.S. Air Force in 2005, and the Chinese J-20 is still in the development stage, and its first flight took place in early 2011.
The new Russian aircraft, the development of which the company does "dry", combines the functions of fighter and attack aircraft. Currently in testing the PAK FA prototype involves three perpetrators, according to the February 8, more than 120 flights. Later this year, the tests should join the fourth fighter.
Upon completion of the testing program of the Russian defense ministry plans to buy 60 fighter T-50. The total demand in the Air Force aircraft of the fifth generation is estimated to be 150 vehicles.
