Russian airline passengers increased in the 1st quarter of 2012 by 20%

In the 1st quarter of 2012, the Russian Federation Russian airlines carried 13 million 378 thousand 813 passengers, a 20.2% increase compared to the same period in 2011 (11 million 127 thousand 715), said the Federal Air Transport Agency.

On international flights were carried 6,000,000 535 thousand 213 people (28.9%). Transportation on domestic flights increased by 13% — up to 6 million 843 thousand 600 people.

Passenger traffic for the quarter grew by 21.8% — up to 37.201 billion passenger-kilometers.

In January-March, Russian airlines have increased freight and mail by 8.9% — up to 224.743 tonnes while turnover increased by 10.2% — to 1,150 billion ton-kilometers.

The passenger load factor rose across the board by 2.4 percentage points — Up to 74.4%, including on international routes — by 1 percentage point to 78%, domestic — by 3.3 percentage points to 68.7%.

The share of the 5 largest Russian airlines had 66.1% of the total volume of air passengers against 59.5% a year earlier.

"Aeroflot" has increased the transportation of passengers for 3 months by 29.3%, to3, 6 million people, "Transaero" — by 38%, to 1,769,000, "UTair" — by 68.3%, to 1,596,000, the "Siberia" — by 14.1% to 1.160 million, the STC "Russia" — by 23.8% to 723 persons.
