Russian fleet returned to the ocean

Russian fleet returns to the ocean. Over the past half-century, these words uttered repeatedly — in the 60-ies of the XIX century, when Russian ships appeared in distant seas after the break caused by the defeat in the Crimean War, in the first decade of the XX century, when the Russian fleet began to recover after the Russian-Japanese War, in the 60's, when the Soviet fleet has sailed off recovering after decades of half-forgotten, and finally, now — when the fleet is beginning to recover after the collapse of the 90's — early 2000's.

Now the ocean is more ships than at any time since the collapse of the Soviet Union aircraft carrier, nuclear-powered missile cruiser and two BOD of the Northern Fleet, the Baltic Fleet frigate, returning home from a long hike, a missile cruiser and two BOD Pacific Fleet and finally — two large amphibious Black Sea Fleet, and go camping. In addition, according to informed sources, the ocean is a considerable number of submarines, campaigns which, unlike surface ships are not advertised.

The Navy is conducting exercises not only, but also performs the actual task, ensuring the safety of navigation in one of the key regions of the world, the Gulf of Aden, where is the watch BOD Pacific Fleet, "Admiral Vinogradov" with three support vessels, and soon will be collected hefty "fist" Russian ships, including "Peter the Great", "Admiral Chabanenko", Black large amphibious ships.

New approaches are very clearly highlighted the problems of our Navy as a lack of overseas bases, which would have allowed the Navy to not carry a lot of support ships at each exit to the sea, the scarcity of ship structure — does not allow to maintain a permanent presence in key regions, and of course — shortage of aviation component. The only one on the entire Navy, "Admiral Kuznetsov" can not be everywhere at the same time, while air support is urgently needed as our ships, carrying out tasks for the protection of navigation and of the forces of the fleet that still defend Russian waters.

It's not just about aircraft carriers. Recent events demonstrate the usefulness and necessity of amphibious assault ships, capable of carrying not only aircraft and helicopters, and marine units with amphibious hovercraft and military equipment. These ships could effectively perform the tasks escorting convoys, and provide intercept pirate boats — with the help of helicopters and high-speed landing craft, and if necessary — and to a ground operation to destroy the pirate base.

However, such ships need full support, need infrastructure-based, trained personnel and a lot of assistive technology. Finally, the Navy needs of all classes of aircraft — from helicopters and UAVs to multi-engine long-range reconnaissance and antisubmarine.

Only if the planned and systematic development, technology updates, and training of the fleet will be able to perform their tasks. And if in the near future will not happen radical change in the rates of the construction and repair of naval ships and infrastructure, it all today's activity may go to the dogs — older ships will be scrapped, and the members of their crews will retire in stock, not passing on its experience of the new generation.

However, the optimism in the question of the future of the Russian Navy boosts statement by the Chief of Staff of the Navy's intention to organize a naval base in Syria, Libya, and on the island of Socotra in the Gulf of Aden. Such intentions suggest that the high command was not going to let the fleet on needles, and expects that the Navy will have a sufficient number of ships to use these databases. It is hoped that the economic crisis will not prevent the revival of the fleet. On the other hand, at the time the United States used military orders to get out of the Great Depression. Perhaps this strategy will be able to apply and Russia. In any case, the effective armed forces and the navy in particular need of our country in order to confidently meet the impending stormy decade.
