- The Russian women’s helicopter squadron "Hummingbird"
Russian helicopter took the first three places at the Open Championship of Belgium Helicopter Championships, held at the airport Saint-Hubert, from 29 August to 1 September 2013
30 teams from nine countries competed in four disciplines: navigation, flight to the accuracy, slalom and conveying goods. All in all competitions involving more than 20 cars 7 different types, namely: Robinson R-22 and R-44, Bell 206, Gumbal Cabri, Eurocopter EC135, Hughes and Gazelle.
First place in the competition took the crew Afanaskin Margaret and Victor Kalinin, who earned 1,182.6 points out of 1200 possible. In second place with 1161.3 points — the crew of the absolute European champion, member of the first female helicopter squadron "Hummingbird" Eugene Kurpitko and Vladimir Strienka. Third place is left for the crew of the absolute world champion in 2012 by Alexander and Nicholas Zhuperina Burov, earned 1,142.2 points.
Another participant female squadron "Hummingbird" — Helen Zhuperina 5th place and earned 1,132.4 points, slightly underperforming the Austrian crew, who took 4 place ranking on the results of the competition.
It should be noted that for "Hummingbird" is the third international competition this summer — so, in June, the squadron took part in opening a helicopter games in the UK, and just 4 days prior to this, Eugene Kurpitko won first place in the Italian championship, "Open Italian Helicopter Games 2013 ", held at the airport Voghera near Milan.
In addition to the competition, viewers were able to see demonstrations Squadron "Hummingbird" and the demonstration flight multipurpose helicopters Mi-171, the production of the General sponsor of the event — JSC "Helicopters of Russia".
