Experts of the Lebedev Physical Institute of RAS (FIAN), launched in the Tien-Shan Research Station in Kazakhstan, a new experimental installation "Horizon", designed to study cosmic rays — streams of elementary particles from space.

"The new plant will enable a high degree of accuracy to register double-spaced pulses. Abnormal EAS were first recorded in the experiment "VEGA" in Tien-Shan station. These air showers are characterized by pulses of Cherenkov radiation with two and even three peaks spaced at 100 or more nanoseconds. The existence of these retarded "double" showers have does not fit the current understanding of cosmic rays.
According to the report, a preliminary analysis of the experimental data showed that the primary particles, which caused registered at the new plant downpours have the energy above 1016 eV. The pulses with two or three peaks "Horizon" have not been found yet, the researchers accumulate statistics to draw definitive conclusions about the existence of delayed rains.
