Sayano-Shushenskaya hydroelectric power station started providing electricity through a new distributor

After a successful operation under load for 72 hours Acceptance Commission signed an act authorizing the entry of the first stage of the new switchgear power plant into commercial operation. The project is the replacement of obsolete open distribution device to the latest gas-insulated equipment is implemented in the framework of a comprehensive program of rehabilitation and modernization of the station.

The decision on the reconstruction of the outdoor switchgear (500 kV) power plant was taken over by the JSC "RusHydro" in 2010. Switchyard equipment for more than 30 years of operation is obsolete and physically worn out, its spare parts were removed from production. At the same time, from the reliable operation of the distributor directly for safe and reliable operation of the power in the national grid in Siberia.

When considering options for reconstruction, it was decided to make a full replacement of the device to a new gas-insulated switchgear system (GIS 500 kV). It compares favorably with the compactness and placement of equipment indoors, protected from rain and snow.

Work on the construction GIS began in 2012. It installed modern equipment that meets the highest standards of service and reliability, as well as having a long service life (up to 50 years). It includes sebya19 cells produced by Swiss company ABB. Each such cell integrates switches, disconnectors, earthing switches and other equipment. The cells used sulfur hexafluoride (SF6), Featuring a unique insulating properties at full explosion and fire.

Bringing GIS into operation was preceded by thorough testing of individual pieces of equipment and switchgear in general. The final stage of testing was comprehensive testing of the first stage in the network under load for 72 hours. Having considered the results of the tests, acceptance committee, which includes representatives of JSC "RusHydro", RTN, MES, OAO "UES" and the administration of Sayanogorsk, signed a document authorizing the entry of new equipment.

At the moment, through the issuing of GIS capacity hydroelectric number 9 and 10, one 500 kV transmission line. In the future, in consultation with the System Operator of the Unified Energy System will be made a gradual transfer of the rest of hydraulic and power transmission lines with existing outdoor switchgear for a new gas-insulated. This process should be completed in 2014, after which the old equipment will be dismantled.
