Serial production of the Mi-26T2 start in 2012

The company "Rostvertol" intends during 2012 to deploy mass production of upgraded heavy transport helicopter Mi-26T2.

In an interview to "Rossiyskaya Gazeta" said the company’s CEO Boris Slusar. Simultaneously with the start of production of the machine, which is currently being tested, and the company plans to start selling it. According Slyusarev, Mi-26T2 is different from the basic Mi-26T reduced manning — operate the machine could be two people instead of five.

At present, the domestic and foreign markets supplied Mi-26T. This machine, in addition to Russia and CIS countries, operates in China, India, Venezuela and Greece. In February 2011 it was reported that despite the fact that the mass production of the Mi-26T2 has not yet begun, Russia suggested that car in the Indian tender, involving the purchase of 15 heavy transport helicopters. The competition was announced in May 2009. The main competitor of the Russian helicopter in this tender is the U.S. Boeing CH-47F Chinook.
