RFS Executive Committee today approved a new format of the structure of football competitions in Russia, reports Sports.ru Alexey Fomin. The shift to "Autumn Spring" will take place in three phases, starting in 2011.
First step: Spring 2011 — Fall 2011 — Spring 2012 (in the same time frame)
Second stage: Fall 2012 — Spring 2013 (in the same time frame)
Stage Three: Fall 2013 — Spring 2014 (with an increase in terms of)
Chempionat-2011/2012 in the Premier League will be held in three rounds. In the third round will have two groups of 8 teams: the first one is a winner and clubs that have the right performances in European competition. In the second group of teams that win 15 to 16th place will go to the first division, and the team who finished at 13-14th positions will meet in the play-offs with the clubs took 3rd to 4th place in the first division — for the right to play in the Premier League.
The scheme of the championship of Russia in the first division (transition):
— First round (Spring 2011): 20 teams;
— Second round (Fall 2011): 20 teams;
— Third round (Spring 2012): 2 groups of 8 and 12 teams. Teams from the first group, who took the 1-2nd place out in the Premier League, who took the 3-4th place play offs with the clubs finishing in 13-14’s place in the Premier League. Teams from the second group, who took the 17-20th place, leave the second division. The club, who finished 16th, playing the play-offs with teams took first place in Group 5 of the second division.
The scheme of the championship of Russia in the first division (Fall 2012 — Spring 2013)
The tournament involves 18 teams. The first two come out of the club in the Premier League. The teams placing 3rd 4th place play offs with the teams finishing in 13-14-E in the Premier League.
The last two teams eliminated in the second division. The club, who finished 16th, playing the play-offs with the winning team of the zonal competition of the second division (played three places in the first division).
