Sitronics has developed an antenna for smooth communication in fragile natural environment

"Sitronics" has developed an antenna that provides a consistent signal relay communication in fragile natural environment. Demand for the invention will depend on its cost, experts say.

Radiophysics Laboratory Sitronics Labs in partnership with UNN them. Lobachevsky developed a scanning lens antenna for use in a radio relay communication lines in the millimeter range, reported in "Sitronics".

Relay lines «E-band", 71-76, 81-86 GHz, used as an alternative or addition to fiber. They can be used to organize the communication line with a data rate up to 1 Gbit / s with a considerably lower cost than the pad with the same fiber channel bandwidth. In addition, these lines are popular for use in places where laying fiber is difficult or even impossible for the climatic and geographical reasons.

To create a relay line requires two sets of equipment with antennas transmit and receive signal at a certain angle. If the equipment is mounted on the base, exposed to mechanical stress (for example — the wind) in the case of changing the position of the base angle signal change and connection faults may occur, or it may even be lost.

"In our case, the deviation antenna capable of automatically without human intervention in real time to find a new angle signal", — Says the expert "Sitronics". — The antenna can automatically recover the precise mutual orientation of the pair of antenna systems, microwave link ». Lens used in the antenna is capable of forming a narrow radiation pattern by focusing the radiation from the primary antenna element which is integrated at an end surface of the lens added in the company.

On the lens and organization of communication with this antenna filed international patent applications under the Patent Cooperation Treaty — the international Patent Cooperation Treaty, the company says.

In the "Beeline" believe that the main factor that will affect the demand for an invention — is its price competitiveness. "If the price of the lens antenna is comparable with the prices of antennas, which are now used for RRL in E-band (including the cost of the electronic control unit), its use will be interesting," — said the representative of the operator CNews Mary Winnick.

In "Sitronics" argue that the price of their development will not be high, as the lens is made of a "low-cost material widely accessible."

In MTS believe that the decision will be in demand on the operator market, "as it allows to increase the reliability of the microwave link between the base stations, to simplify the process of installing and configuring radio relay equipment."

According to the representative of MTS Valeria Kuzmenko, it eventually will reduce the time and cost of the operator to deploy communications networks, and improve the quality of communication. Representatives of the "Megaphone" considered "premature to give any comments so far."

In one of the "Big Three" were also of the opinion that the technology on which the antenna is working, is not new, but in terms of execution of the decision is considered unique. There’s also expressed doubt that the final product will be cheap.

The main customers of the antenna in the "Sitronics" see manufacturers of equipment for microwave transmission. The development can be integrated with any modern equipment, the company says. According to a source in the "Sitronics", talks to supply the new antenna is now underway with all major manufacturers of such equipment, but so far no agreement with anyone achieved.

"At the moment we begin field testing of new antennas on one of the network operators, the end of which we plan to begin mass production and supply manufacturers RRLS E-band", — Says the vice president of emerging technologies "Sitronics" Michael Minkovskiy.
