Swiss machine tools in Russian

In Russia opens first joint Russian-Swiss manufacture of machine tools. Now, EDM machines, machining centers and thermal furnaces will be produced at the plant United Industrial Corporation "Oboronprom" with a group of companies Georg Fischer Group, firms Galika AG and Codere SA

Today, the market EDM machines in Russia for more than 90% is represented by imports. This is due to the low level of quality of Russian machines: they were developed in the last century and most of the technologies used in them, celebrated more than 20 years.

In the past year, the company OPK "Oboronprom" drafted a joint production of high-tech EDM equipment in Russia, first subassembly, then the deeper localization of production. First seen companies from Europe, since completing the first time will be supplied from abroad, and delivery times from Asia is much higher for obvious reasons. For co-production has been selected known Swiss company GF AgieCharmilles (GF AzhiSharmy). Prior to the merger in 2007, led by Georg Fischer concern they were two separate companies — pioneers in the field of electro "AGIE" and "CHARMILLES", which evolved in parallel since 1952.

Before the company OPK "Oboronprom" was a serious problem — to choose the most appropriate platform to launch joint production. As the favorite has been chosen one of the oldest Russian industry that is situated not far from Moscow — "Savelovskiy Engineering Works" in Kimri. Now it is a major undertaking full-cycle production of machine tools in Russian. The plant has preserved valuable specialist machine builders with a lot of experience.

Founded in 1915, the plant so far involved in the release of machining equipment, which is available in Russia and abroad. In 2012 Savelovskiy Machine Works was a part of United Industrial Corporation "Oboronprom".

In January of this year, CEOs OPK "Oboronprom" Dmitry Lelikov, Galika AG Lino Derungs and GFAgieCharmilles Pascal Baja signed an agreement to start assembling EDM equipment Savelovsky engineering plant. First released machine was shown at the exhibition "Metal 2013", which took place in late May, and presented MSTU "STANKIN."

According to the first vice-president of concern AgieCharmilles Bernd Casper, the new design incorporates the latest advances in the machine tool industry. "Swiss specialists and will provide their full cooperation to the Russian colleagues in the development of the investment project. Cooperation Programme envisages training of engineers and technicians from Russia to Switzerland", — said Kasper. He stressed that the Swiss side will be a question of principle to observe the highest standards of quality at start of production in Russia.

General Director of "Stankoprom" Sergey Makarov, in turn, stressed that at present in Russia embarked on a comprehensive upgrade production facilities. This applies to any and all industries and especially the defense. Thanks to the cooperation with foreign investors are prerequisites to the revival of the domestic machine tool industry.
