Finally it became known that the freight will be a three Il-96-400 and two Tu-204SM certifiable. Their fate was much more successful that gloomy scenario that vyrisovovalsya after the failure of Flight New IL-96-400, and the revocation of the operator at the "Red Wings".
According to the agreement signed in Havana, three Il-96-400 will be converted from passenger to freighter version. Also provides for the delivery of two Tu-204SM, which will be delivered after the completion of testing and certification.
Apparently you change equipment on the engines and avionics, as supply of U.S. technology to Cuba is prohibited, a mean grade PS-90A1 and PS-90A2 is not possible.
The total amount of agreements to supply aircraft to Cuba will amount to 650 million dollars, told reporters the Minister of Industry Denis Manturov. According to him, the agreement includes an option for the delivery of three An-158 aircraft. This is an additional supply of aircraft, other than aircraft, to be delivered later this year: the first — in March, the second — in June and the third — in August.
Also provides for the supply of spare parts for the maintenance of aircraft in service, which are already in Cuba and operated for a long time.
"This is a finance lease," — said MANTUROV in response to a question on what terms will be made of aircraft delivery.According to him, the agreement provides for the use of the mechanism of state guarantees.
"This is a sovereign state guarantee, which is issued for the provision of a subsequent commercial loans that the Cuban side will pay in the form of lease payments," — said MANTUROV.
He noted that the guarantee will be provided by the Russian state bank structures that will provide credit.
The agreement came as never on time, as the prospects of the two programs were not funny: the only customer of IL-96 was Administrative Department of the President, and the program for the modernized Tu-204 was littered with the lack of real customer. The new contract with Cuba will support both programs, before moving to the competitive model, and will keep the production of wide-bodied aircraft in Russia.
