The first 57 armored Russian-Italian joint production of "Lynx" will go to the army of the Russian Federation this year, told reporters on Wednesday, press secretary of the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Irina Kovalchuk.
Defense Minister Anatoly Serdyukov, accompanied by Governor of Voronezh Region Alexei Gordeev visited on the same day, a joint venture of "Oboronservis" and the Italian group Iveco, which assembles protected tactical vehicles "Lynx".
"In 2012, the armed forces will receive the first 57 cars produced in Voronezh. According to Anatoly Serdyukov, the machines in the first place, it is planned to equip the troops of the Southern Military District," — said Kovalchuk.
According to her, the localization of production, "Lynx" at the Voronezh plant now stands at 10%, and by 2014 will reach 50%.
The contract on the joint production of armored vehicles in Voronezh, Russia and Italy signed in December 2011. Prior to that in Russia were imported four such machines, which participated in the conduct of comparative trials with Russian counterparts. According to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, their characteristics, they were better than those of machines that are in service with the Russian army. In this case, Anatoly Serdyukov has repeatedly stated that it is not the procurement of foreign technology, and the organization of the production of such cars to Russia.
