The Human Development Index

As Robert Kennedy, GDP "measures everything … except that which makes life real." In an attempt to align the overall performance, in 1990 the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) began to produce its Human Development Index (HDI). IHDI taken into account when calculating the three types of indicators:
— Life expectancy — assesses longevity.
— the literacy rate of the population (the average number of years spent on training) and the expected duration of the study.
— standard of living, estimated through the GNI per capita in purchasing power parity (PPP) in U.S. dollars.

These figures mask some very important differences among countries. UNDP believes that the HDI index for Latinos in the United States is 0.75 (at the level of Kazakhstan). African-Americans — 0.70, which is comparable with the Chinese. African-Americans in Louisiana were 0.47 (equivalent to Nigeria).

Therefore, in 2010 the index has undergone major changes. In addition to used the HDI, which is a composite index, relying on srednestranovye statistics and do not include domestic inequality was introduced indicator of human development, adjusted for socio-economic inequalities (IHDI). Unfortunately, in Russia this figure is not specified.

The official publication of the report for 2012 was held March 14, 2013 vMehiko. Russia took the 55th place among 187 countries and territories instead of the former 66 th, up to eleven positions, ahead of Saudi Arabia and China, and remains in the group of countries with high HDI.
