TOMSK, October 29 — RIA Novosti, Sergei Levanenkov. The new landing system, which allows the receiving aircraft in poor visibility conditions, will start in the Tomsk airport from the end of November 2012, told reporters on Monday the head of OOO "Airport" Tomsk "Victor Schendel.
Tomsk airport can not always take and send routes, especially in the morning due to heavy fog or snow. Currently, the minimum approach in the Tomsk airport is 115 meters visibility vertically and 1.7 kilometers — horizontally. The new system improves these figures almost doubled.
"Today the landing system was completely replaced, did that our colleagues from the" ZapSibaeronavigatsii "at the expense of federal money. Modern landing system will increase the minimum approach of 60 meters and a vertical visibility of about one kilometer — the horizontal. This will bring the airport for the first category of ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization), the minimum landing and will expand the capabilities of aircraft landing in poor visibility conditions, "- said Schendel.
According to him, there is a procedure of certification of the system, which will end by the end of November.
He noted that such a system, like any other, is not able to receive aircraft in smog from forest fires, such as those that were in the summer of 2012.
