The latest multipurpose nuclear submarine (NPS) "Severodvinsk" (Project 885) will soon go out for two months in the White Sea for sea trials, said Tuesday the CEO — Chief Designer of "Malachite" (developer of the subs) Vladimir Pyalov.
"The boat goes to the degaussing (the identification and reduction of physical fields of the ship), and then two months into the sea. After that will be the final phase of state testing, "- said Pyalov.
According to him, at present, "Severodvinsk" is ready to 98.9%. "Weapons, including cruise missiles, long-range, fully worked out during the previous trials," — said General Director of CB "Malachite".
Currently at the "Sevmash" in Severodvinsk built a second submarine Project 885 "Kazan". Transfer of the fleet is planned for 2015.
Multipurpose nuclear submarine of the fourth generation Project 885 (code "Ash", according to NATO classification GRANAY) designed marine engineering bureau "Malachite" (St. Petersburg).
"Kazan", like the "Severodvinsk" — double-hulled submarine-shaft with reduced acoustic field. Felling is streamlined oval shape, durable body is divided into ten sections. For the first time in the practice of the domestic shipbuilding torpedo tubes are not located in the bow of the ship, and for the central control compartment, allowing to place the antenna in the bow of a new sonar system.
For the missiles used eight vertical launchers. A powerful set of weapons including supersonic cruise missiles and versatile deep-homing torpedoes. The ship also received the latest communication and navigation systems, equipped with a fundamentally new nuclear power plant.
The introduction of the latest developments of the Russian military-industrial complex must ensure that NPS leadership among foreign counterparts in quietness and stealth.
