The number of abortions in Russia was reduced by a quarter

The number of abortions in Russia over the past five years decreased by 24%, but still significant: about a million women each year decides to terminate the pregnancy, said Tuesday the Deputy Minister of Health Minister Tatyana Yakovleva.

Previously director of pediatric care and obstetrics service of Ministry of Health Baybarina Elena told RIA Novosti that in 2012 per 100 live births accounted for 49.7 abortions. In 2003 the figure was 230 abortions per hundred births.

The most common cause abortion, a woman called the housing problems, difficult financial situation, as well as her husband’s absence or presence of several children in the family.
