The opening of the headquarters of the Russian Geographical Society in Moscow

Vladimir Putin took part in the opening ceremony of the headquarters of the Russian Geographical Society in Moscow. Multimedia

The President toured the library and lecture hall, visited the multifunction mediastudiyu allowing to get in touch via video conference with all the branches of society in the country.

The event was attended by the President of the Russian Geographical Society, the Minister of Defence Sergei Shoigu, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin,
members of the Board of Trustees of the RGS, which is chaired by Vladimir Putin.

Russian Geographical Society was founded by imperial order of Emperor Nicholas I in 1845. Since its inception it has declared its purpose the collection and dissemination of geographical information about Russia. Historical headquartered in St. Petersburg. Division of RGS function in 81 regions of the country.
