The prototype of an electric locomotive is passing over commissioning and factory acceptance tests

The prototype of an electric locomotive with nonsynchronous propulsion engine «Granite» (series 2ES10) produced by the joint Russian-German company "Ural locomotives" (Verkhnyaya Pyshma, Sverdlovsk region) went on trial in the All-Russian Research Institute of Railway Transport ( ARIoRT, t. Sherbinka, Moscow region).

This was preceded by commissioning and factory acceptance tests, where the following issues were tested: correctness of the equipment placement and load distribution on each axle of the locomotive, operability of all electric locomotive systems including the components supplied by "Siemens".

Electric locomotive «Granite» has already passed some preliminary tests of the locomotive depot «Yekaterinburg-marshalling» and successfully completed the test drive on the Sverdlovsk railway.

According to the official press release of the "Sinar" group, electric locomotive «Granite» has departed to Sherbinka in the March 4, where it will have to run for five thousandth kilometers on the ARIoRT experimentally ring, and pass acceptance and certification tests.

The main characteristics of Locomotive (2ES10) traction is almost two times higher than one of existing electric DC locomotives, in particular VL11 series. At the same time the life-cycle cost is lower by 20%. It is able to drive the train up to 10 tons and has no analogues.
