The Russian athlete broke the world record, lasted 40 years

19-year-old long jumper Sergey Morgunov Russian championship among juniors in Cheboksary score of 8 meters 35 centimeters, setting a junior world record. Previous record belonged to American Randy Williams and was shown in 1972 — it was held 40 years!

Now a student of South Russian State Technical University may be included in the national team for the Olympic Games in London without selection.

"This result can be called outstanding, Sergei broke the record of 40 years ago. Hopefully he will be in the team for the Olympics. We had only one pole-executed Olympic norm — Alexander Men’kov. Morgounov — second. I hope the coaches will agree with me that the man we need at the Olympics, "- said the head coach of the Russian national athletics Valentin Maslakov.
