Russians Anton Shkaplerov and Oleg Kononenko completed the main task of this year’s first spacewalk on the Russian program and returned to the station.
"At 00:47 MSK they went into the module" Pirs "and closed the hatches," Itar-Tass in Moscow Mission Control Center (MCC). The astronauts spent the cold for more than six hours (output started on the eve of a slight delay at 18:31 MSK).
The other members of the ISS-30 — Russian Anatoly Ivanishin, NASA astronaut Daniel Burbank, Donald Pettit and European Space Agency astronaut Andre Kuipers — meet colleagues at the station. For security purposes, they were divided into three groups: the first two went to the Russian module "Search" (MIM-2), if necessary, to have access to his "lifeboat" — "Soyuz TMA-22"; Pettit, involved in locking, , remained in the Functional Cargo Block "Dawn" and Kuipers moved to the U.S. segment, from where you can reach the "Soyuz TMA-03M."
First Shkaplerov made and fixed on the rail link mobile derrick blocks with different samples of materials for the experiment "Endurance." By setting blocks Shkaplerov waited partner at the mobile level Boom. Kononenko, leaving the station, went to the rigging and boom assembly, which had to be moved, disconnected it from the rail and moved to the post of the second operator Boom. It Kononenko acted as operator "crane" — moved the load to the "Pierce" on the "Search" (MIM-2). This operation was carried out in order to free from the useful equipment "Pierce", which in the future will be undocked from the ISS and splashed down in the Pacific Ocean, recalled in the MCC.
After finishing the "transfer of goods," Shkaplerov and Kononenko mounted units with samples of materials for space purposes of the experiment, "Endurance." Containers will be under the influence of open space from one to three years, after which experts will decide whether these materials are suitable for the production of spacecraft components.
Then, turning the working boom in the storage position astronauts conducted an experiment "Test", which involves taking a swab from the outside of the service module, or rather from teploizolyatsinnogo coverage. The goal of the experiment — check the earthly bacteria resistant to space conditions.
Thus was formed only one of the main objectives output. It was originally planned to install five additional protivometeoroidnyh panels on the module "Zvezda". But due to lack of time this operation has not been assessed.
