The Russians took the lead of the World Games in Colombia

The Russian national team came in first place in the team standings atIX World Games for non-Olympic sports, who held these days in Colombia.

On the fifth day of the competition our athletes have won six victories, which allowed the team to climb the table of ranks from fourth to first place. In the piggy bank of Russians now 35 awards, 13 of which the highest standard.  

Champions of the World Games were powerlifters Sergei Fedosienko and Natalia Sal’nikova, jiu-jitsu Korzhavyi Paul and Alexander Ivanov and Alexei Dudchenko acrobats and Konstantin Pilipciuk duos in the competition and the women’s team in group exercise as part of Catherine the Loginov Ajgul Shaikhutdinova and Catherine Stroinova.

In the second place in the team competition has risen Team Germany (04.06.12), the third team dropped Italy (11-13-12). The total number of medals the Russians — the second (35) after the Italians (36), ahead of the French (25) and Germans (22).

Games in Colombia 132 Russian athletes (75 men and 57 women) will perform in the 18th and sports. In just 10 days (from 26 July to 4 August) will be raffled off 195 sets of medals.

The World Games— Integrated international competition in sports not included in the Olympic program. Held since 1981 with frequency of 1 every 4 years since 2001, held under the patronage of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

The organizer of the World Games is the International World Games Association (IWGA), founded in 1980 on the initiative of the leaders of 12 sports federations, who sought to promote and enhance the status of their sports until their inclusion in the Olympic program.
