Three anti-aircraft missile regiment of troops are equipped with S-400

Three anti-aircraft missile regiment of troops equipped with the S-400, the Minister of Defence Anatoly Serdyukov at the College of the Ministry.

"Started re parts air defense troops of S-400 systems. Today put on combat duty three regiments. Troops arrives in new anti-aircraft missile and gun system" Shell-C "- said Serdyukov.

S-400 — anti-aircraft missile system large and medium-range new generation. Designed to engage all current and future air and space attack — reconnaissance aircraft, aircraft of strategic and tactical aircraft, tactical and operational-tactical ballistic missiles, medium-range ballistic missiles, hypersonic targets, jammers, radar surveillance aircraft and guidance, and others.

Each AAMS provides simultaneous firing of up to 36 targets with guided them to 72 missiles. The S-400 is the only system that can selectively work with more than 4 types of missiles having different starting weight and a range of start-up, creating a layered defense. Entered service in 2007.

ZRPK "Shell-C" is the flagship of the Russian short-range air defense system. It is implemented in a complex rocket and cannon fire arms permits aerial targets throughout the depth of the affected area, starting with the high-altitude long-range goals and finishing popping up small objects flying at extremely low altitudes.

Now a comment from me: I understand that this is an official confirmation that the third regiment of S-400 stood in formation near Kaliningrad.

PS supplement to the paper, which confirms that the third regiment was put on duty in Kaliningrad:

As of early 2012, armed with Russia were two regiments of S-400, two in each division, and they are located in suburban Elektrostal and Dmitrov. Formation of a third regiment was conducted on the territory of the Kaliningrad region — the first division of S-400 entered service with the Baltic Fleet in February 2012. When it is completed the formation of the third regiment of S-400, Serdyukov said.
