On the "Tobolsk-Petrochemicals" completed reconstruction of the production of methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE). As a result, production of methyl tert-butyl ether will be increased from 120 to 150 thousand tons per year.
The project included the upgrading of pumping, heat transfer equipment and replacement isothermal adiabatic reactor.
The contract for the reconstruction of the installation was awarded to the company Sulzer («Sulzer"), whose experts had calculated the design work and the possibility of increasing the capacity of the plant in terms of rectification. Project preparation and material balance, as well as the reconstruction itself, have been carried out on their own in a short time. The entire upgrade cycle took 20 days.
MTBE — an effective component of motor fuel, which increases the octane number of gasoline and prevents detonation in the combustion chamber. Methyl tert-butyl ether — demanded product in the petrochemical market. The demand for MTBE is growing, in part because the introduction in Russia since 2011 emissions standard Euro-3. Total Russian plants produced a total of about 800,000 tons of finished product per year.
