TPU Scientists have developed a new method of drilling hard

Scientists at Tomsk Polytechnic University have developed a new method of drilling different species using electricity discharges. The technology is already interested members of the French oil and gas company. For them, the Polytechnic have organized a demonstration drilling granite, according to broadcaster "News-Tomsk".

New drilling method produces great results in a short time. During the filming process, and it is 10 minutes, the drill was held inside a durable granite by 40 centimeters.

The principle of drilling, which is interested in one of the specialized French companies, is based on an electrical discharge in the rock. The discharge is generated at the facility and supplied to the drill. Boer also differs from conventional drilling tools and is a tip with two electrodes between which the discharge occurs. That he is a destructive element in this principle of drilling. The breed is destroyed along with the explosion and the subsequent discharge is possible only where there is a solid body. However, discharge takes place with a liquid, in this case — transformer oil.

"The discharge took place in a solid, releasing energy generators, micro-explosion occurred. And with the explosion of rock is destroyed, — says Vladislav Vazhov,
senior researcher at the Laboratory number 11. — The next category is where the only solid. The liquid is needed initially, because in this our way to the breakdown voltage of the liquid is much more than a rock, and any solid body. "

The French company for the extraction of natural resources from the Polytechnic University known for a long time, and in search of new drilling techniques have come to evaluate the development of our scientists. According to foreign visitors, this method can replace all existing today.

"Worldwide, the company focused on drilling less costly way. Today, drilling is becoming more and more expensive, and this way the least expensive, but no less effective, "- says Christoph Gupfert, Director of Business Development (France).

The result of the experiment was pleased with his colleague Jean Louis Gosen, independent expert in the field of oil and gas technologies (France):

"I am very impressed with the result that showed the installation, and its performance is impressive. I think this innovative technique is very promising. "

Developers, in turn, noted that there is no such breed and such material, which could not break through the drill, with the exception of the metal. Due to the short circuit which occurs in the case of metal drilling becomes impossible.
