Ukraine in January-July, has reduced gas consumption by 7.5%

KIEV, August 30 — RIA Novosti, Alain Mate.Ukraine in January-July this year consumed 30.5 billion cubic meters of gas, which is 2.5 billion cubic meters (7.5%) less than in the same period last year, said Friday the information-analytical bulletin government, referring to the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine.

In particular, in January-July imports of gas was 12.5 billion cubic meters, up 33.6% (6.3 billion cubic meters) of less than seven months of 2012. In this case, the transit of gas through Ukraine for seven months also declined — by 6.8% (3.5 billion cubic meters) compared to the same period in 2012 — to 47.1 billion cubic meters. 

During the first half of the year Ukraine imported gas in the amount of 4.33 billion dollars.

In 2012, Ukraine reduced gas consumption by 7.6% compared to the year 2011 — to 54.8 billion cubic meters. In particular, gas imports in 2012 decreased by 26.5% compared with 2011 — up to 32.94 billion cubic meters, while Ukraine has paid for it 14.03 billion. In 2011, Ukraine imported gas for a total of $ 14 billion, and in 2010 — by 9.4 billion dollars.

The Government expects that in 2013 Ukraine imported 27.3 billion cubic meters of natural gas. Proceeds from the gas, "Gazprom" should be 18 billion cubic meters, from the company Ostchem (Cyprus) Dmitry Firtashv — 8 billion cubic meters, from the company RWE Supply & Trading GmbH (Germany) — 1.3 billion cubic meters.
