Vietnam was the last of the Russian frigates purchased


Vietnamese Navy received the last of the two frigates ordered from Russia of the "Cheetah 3.9", according to Defense News. Ship August 22, 2011 arrived in the port of Cam Ranh in the central part of the southern coast of the country. The first frigate project, built Zelenodolsk plant named after Gorky (RT) was transferred to the Navy in Vietnam in March 2011.
Vietnam has purchased two frigates of the "Cheetah 3.9" in 2006. The navy ships were named the country’s "Dinh Tien Hoang," and "Lee Thay That." Displacement of the ship of the "Cheetah 3.9" is 2.1 tons. The ship is armed with antiship missile system, 76.2-mm guns and two 30 mm gun mounts. On deck "Cheetah" provides space for helicopters Ka-28 and Ka-31.

Over the past few years, Vietnam has concluded a number of contracts with Russia for the supply of surface ships and submarines for the Navy. In particular, in 2005, 12 boats were bought by the project 12418, licensed assembly which began in Vietnam in the autumn of 2010. In 2009, Vietnam has purchased in Russia six diesel-electric submarines of Project 636 "Varshavyanka" for $ 1.8 billion
