Vnukovo International Airport passenger traffic grew in March compared with March last year by 16.2% to 699,000 passengers. It was serviced 12,200 flights, up 8.7% from a year earlier.
Passenger traffic on domestic routes in March 2013 amounted to438thousands of passengers. Regular domestic flights were carried out by65areas, the most popular of which are: St. Petersburg, Krasnodar, Tyumen, Ufa, Samara. The highest growth in passenger traffic was recorded on flights to Yekaterinburg, St. Petersburg and Tyumen. The main volume of traffic on domestic routes has provided a base carrier airport — airline "UTair", performing regular flights from Vnukovo in 50 cities in Russia.
On international flights, in March 2013 the airport has been served261thousand passengers, which is 72% higher than in March last year. With 80% of international air passengers were carried on scheduled flights. The flights were carried out by55areas, and for the past year international route network of the airport immediately joined the 19 new cities.
International charter flights in the past month has been transported50thousands of passengers, which is 26% more than in March 2012. The most popular flights to Hurghada, Sharm el-Sheikh, Istanbul, Barcelona, Rimini, Verona and Antalya.
In March, the airport is actively preparing for the transition to the summer timetable. Strategic partner of the Vnukovo Airport — airline "Transaero" on the first day of the summer season on March 31 opened new flights to 8 cities: Almaty, Atyrau, Venice, Karaganda, Kiev, Kostanai, Madrid and Odessa. A total of Vnukovo this season of "Transaero" will fly to 36 destinations.
