Waste sorting complex was opened in Nizhny Novgorod region

Modern waste-sorting complex inter-municipal landfills unsuitable for recycling of solid waste opened in Gorodetsky district on January 26.

Its processing capacity — 100,000 tons of garbage a year. This complex serves Bor, Gorodetsky, Semyonov, Koverninskii, Sokolsky, and the left bank of the Lyskovsky Vorotynsky areas with a population of 270,000 people.

Modern waste-sorting facility built as part of the regional target program "Development of a waste management system of production and consumption in the Nizhny Novgorod region for 2009-2014", adopted by the Government of the Nizhny Novgorod region in 2008. According to the program, in the region 256 dumps will replace nine clean-district polygons with sorting facilities and transfer stations. The program will improve the ecological situation in the region and will return in the economy that can be recycled.
